4.4 from 106 reviews

Tender and flavorful slow cooker steak bites cooked to perfection with garlic, au jus, and butter, perfect for a comforting meal served over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak Bites

  • 2 lbs. sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil

Sauce and Cooking

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup beef stock (or water)
  • 1 oz. packet au jus
  • 4 Tbsp. salted butter

Instructions

  1. Sear the Steak Bites: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak bites and season with salt and pepper. Sear the steak bites on all sides until browned, about 2 minutes. Work in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding the pan.
  2. Transfer to Slow Cooker: Move the browned steak bites into your slow cooker, spreading them evenly.
  3. Add Sauce Ingredients: Add the minced garlic, beef stock, and au jus packet to the slow cooker. Mix gently to combine all ingredients.
  4. Add Butter and Cook: Place the 4 tablespoons of salted butter on top of the steak bites, cover the cooker, and cook on LOW heat for 4 hours or HIGH heat for 2 hours, until the steak is tender.
  5. Serve: Serve the steak bites with the flavorful sauce from the slow cooker. This dish pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles. Enjoy your meal!

Notes

  • For best flavor and tender steak bites, do not skip the searing step before slow cooking.
  • You can substitute beef stock with water if unavailable, but beef stock enhances flavor.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste before serving if needed.
  • To keep the steak bites juicy, avoid overcooking in the slow cooker.
  • Pairing with creamy mashed potatoes or starches like rice or noodles balances the rich sauce.
