Base Ingredients
- 1 (10 oz.) bag mini marshmallows
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 5 1/2 cups Honey Nut Cheerios (gluten free)
Optional Topping
- Heat marshmallows and butter. Place the mini marshmallows and butter in a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes, or until the marshmallows start to expand and melt.
- Mix with Cheerios. Stir the melted marshmallow and butter mixture until smooth, then fold in the Honey Nut Cheerios. Ensure all the cereal pieces are thoroughly coated with the marshmallow mixture.
- Shape the treats. Line a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with wax paper. Transfer the coated cereal mixture into the dish and press it down evenly to form a flat layer. If desired, sprinkle rainbow sprinkles on top to add color and fun.
- Chill before serving. Refrigerate the cereal treats for at least 30 minutes to allow them to set firmly. Once chilled, cut into squares and enjoy your sweet, crunchy snack!
Notes
- Use a microwave-safe bowl large enough to allow marshmallows to expand during heating.
- For easier removal from the pan, press the cereal mixture firmly and cool completely.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days to maintain freshness.
- For a nut-free version, ensure the Honey Nut Cheerios are replaced with a nut-free cereal alternative.
