These Halloween Strawberries are a fun and spooky treat perfect for festive gatherings. Fresh strawberries are dipped in rich dark chocolate, adorned with candy eyes, and wrapped in white chocolate to resemble cute mummy bandages. Easy to make and visually delightful, these treats combine fresh fruit with irresistible chocolate and are ideal for Halloween parties or a seasonal snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruit

  • 20 fresh strawberries, washed and thoroughly dried

Chocolate

  • 1 cup dark or semisweet chocolate chips (or melting wafers)
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips (or melting wafers)
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for smoother melting)

Decorations

  • 40 candy eyes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Strawberries: Wash the strawberries carefully and pat them completely dry using paper towels. It’s crucial no moisture remains on the surface, as even a small amount can cause the chocolate to seize and become grainy.
  2. Melt the Dark Chocolate: Place the dark chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in short 20–30 second intervals, stirring thoroughly after each interval until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth. If desired, stir in the teaspoon of coconut oil to give the chocolate a silkier texture and easier dipping consistency.
  3. Dip the Strawberries: Hold each strawberry by the green leafy top and dip it into the melted dark chocolate, covering approximately three-quarters of the berry. Gently shake off excess chocolate to avoid clumps and place the dipped strawberries on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Add the Candy Eyes: While the chocolate coating is still wet, carefully press two candy eyes onto each strawberry to give them a cute, spooky look. This step must be done before the chocolate hardens to ensure the eyes stick properly.
  5. Melt the White Chocolate: In a clean microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips using the same method as the dark chocolate—heat in 20–30 second bursts, stirring in between until smooth and silky.
  6. Create the Mummy Wraps: Transfer the melted white chocolate into a piping bag or a zip-top plastic bag with a small corner cut off. Drizzle the white chocolate back and forth over the strawberries to create the effect of mummy bandages, making sure not to cover the candy eyes for the best visual impact.
  7. Set and Serve: Allow the decorated strawberries to sit at room temperature until the chocolate hardens completely. To speed up this process, you can place them in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes. Once firm, serve these adorable Halloween treats fresh.

Notes

  • Ensure strawberries are completely dry for optimal chocolate coating.
  • If chocolate seizes, add a small amount of coconut oil and stir until smooth.
  • Use parchment paper to prevent sticking while the chocolate sets.
  • Store finished strawberries in a cool place or refrigerator, but consume within 1-2 days for best freshness.
  • For a dairy-free option, use vegan chocolate chips.
