A delicious and easy Garlic Chicken Skillet recipe featuring tender chicken breasts cooked in a savory garlic butter sauce with Italian herbs, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Seasoning

  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken: Season both sides of the chicken breasts evenly with sea salt, black pepper, and dried Italian herbs to infuse flavor into the meat before cooking.
  2. Cook the chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken and set aside to rest.
  3. Sauté garlic: Reduce the skillet heat to medium and add the butter along with the minced garlic. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant but not burnt, stirring to combine.
  4. Add chicken broth: Pour the chicken broth into the skillet, carefully scraping up any browned bits from the bottom to add depth to the sauce. Allow the broth to simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.
  5. Reheat chicken: Return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet, spoon the garlic butter sauce over the top of each piece, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the chicken is heated through and well coated with sauce.
  6. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the chicken for a fresh flavor and vibrant color. Serve the garlic chicken hot with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the chicken with the herbs and garlic for 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Chicken thighs can be used as an alternative for a juicier result.
  • Serve with steamed vegetables or over rice or pasta to complete the meal.
  • Make sure not to burn the garlic as it can become bitter.
  • Use low-sodium chicken broth if monitoring sodium intake.
