5 from 8 reviews

A creamy, cheesy, and hearty dip perfect for game day gatherings, combining seasoned ground beef and sausage with melted Velveeta, Rotel tomatoes, and cream cheese for a rich and flavorful appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

Meats

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground sausage (your favorite variety)

Cheeses and Dairy

  • 16 ounces Velveeta cheese, cubed
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, cubed

Other Ingredients

  • 10 ounce can Rotel (diced tomatoes and green chilies)

Instructions

  1. Brown the meats: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and ground sausage until no longer pink. Use a slotted spoon to remove the cooked meats and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.
  2. Combine and cook in slow cooker: Spray a 4 to 6-quart slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray. Add the cooked ground beef and sausage, cubed Velveeta cheese, Rotel tomatoes, and cubed cream cheese into the slow cooker. Stir everything together to combine well.
  3. Melt and serve: Cook on high heat for 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until the Velveeta and cream cheese have completely melted into a smooth, creamy dip. Serve warm with your favorite tortilla chips for dipping.

Notes

  • Use your preferred sausage variety, such as spicy Italian or breakfast sausage, to customize the flavor.
  • For a spicier dip, opt for hot Rotel or add diced jalapeños.
  • Make sure to stir occasionally to prevent the cheese mixture from burning on the sides.
  • This dip can also be kept warm on low in the slow cooker for game day events lasting several hours.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container and reheated gently on the stove or in the microwave.
