Cool Whip Candy is a luscious, no-bake treat combining smooth melted milk chocolate and fluffy Cool Whip, coated with rich dark chocolate for a decadent finish. This easy-to-make candy is perfect for holiday gatherings or anytime you want a quick, delicious dessert that melts in your mouth.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Mixture

  • 2 packages Milk Chocolate morsels (11 oz each)
  • 1 tub Cool Whip, thawed (8 oz)

Chocolate Coating

  • 24 oz Ghirardelli dark chocolate melting wafers

Instructions

  1. Melt the Milk Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate morsels by heating for one minute. Stir, then microwave again for 30 seconds. Stir until smooth. If needed, heat for an additional 15 seconds. Let the chocolate cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
  2. Prepare Baking Dish: Line an 8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper and set aside.
  3. Combine Chocolate and Cool Whip: In a large bowl, gently fold the cooled melted chocolate with the thawed Cool Whip. It’s normal if the chocolate hardens into tiny bits during mixing; continue folding gently until fully combined. Pour this mixture into the lined baking dish.
  4. Freeze Mixture: Place the baking dish in the freezer for 30 minutes to set. Once solid, remove and cut into 36 squares. Place the squares on a parchment-lined baking sheet and return to the freezer for at least another 30 minutes.
  5. Melt Dark Chocolate Wafers: Melt the dark chocolate wafers according to the package instructions, using a microwave or double boiler.
  6. Dip Candy in Chocolate Coating: Remove chilled candy pieces from the freezer and dip each square into the melted dark chocolate, coating completely. Place dipped candies back onto parchment paper and allow the coating to set.
  7. Store and Serve: Keep the candy stored in the freezer until ready to serve. This candy is best enjoyed cold and can be stored frozen for up to 30 days.

Notes

  • Make sure the melted milk chocolate has cooled to room temperature before folding with Cool Whip to avoid melting the topping too much.
  • The chocolate may harden into bits while mixing; this is normal and will not affect the final texture.
  • Use parchment paper to prevent candy from sticking to dishes and baking sheets.
  • Properly store the candies in the freezer to maintain freshness and shape.
  • For a smoother coating, temper the dark chocolate wafers if desired.
