Cheeses
- 16 ounces Velveeta cheese, chopped into cubes
- 8 ounces cream cheese, chopped into cubes
Chili and Seasoning
- 15 ounces canned chili without beans
- 1/2 packet chili seasoning mix
- Prepare the cheeses: Chop the Velveeta and cream cheese into cubes to help them melt evenly and quickly during cooking.
- Layer the crockpot: Add the canned chili without beans to the crockpot, spreading it out evenly. Place the cubes of Velveeta and cream cheese over the top of the chili.
- Add seasoning: Sprinkle the half packet of chili seasoning evenly over the cheese and chili mixture to infuse flavor as it cooks.
- Cook the dip: Cover the crockpot with the lid and cook on low heat for 1 hour, stirring occasionally to help the cheese melt smoothly and the dip heat through completely.
- Serve the dip: Once the cheese has fully melted and the dip is hot, set the crockpot to the ‘warm’ setting. Serve the dip directly from the crockpot with tortilla chips or Fritos, or transfer to a serving bowl as desired.
Notes
- Use canned chili without beans for a smoother texture and to avoid chunkiness.
- Chili seasoning packets are available in most grocery stores; adjust the amount based on your preferred spice level.
- Stir occasionally while cooking to prevent cheese from sticking to the crockpot sides.
- This dip can be kept warm for several hours in the crockpot on the ‘warm’ setting, perfect for gatherings.
