Butterfinger Ball Mixture
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter (not all natural types)
- 4 tablespoons butter, softened (1/2 stick)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- ¾ cup graham cracker crumbs
- ½ cup crushed Butterfinger bars
Chocolate Coating and Garnish
- 8 ounces chocolate bark or chocolate chips
- Additional crushed Butterfingers, holiday sprinkles, or coarse/flaky sea salt for garnish
- Mix Peanut Butter and Butter: In a medium bowl, combine the creamy peanut butter and softened butter. Use an electric mixer on medium speed, or a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, to blend until smooth and well combined.
- Add Vanilla Extract: Pour in the vanilla extract and mix until fully incorporated into the peanut butter mixture.
- Incorporate Powdered Sugar: Gradually add the powdered sugar in batches, blending on low speed. Scrape down the bowl sides occasionally to ensure an even mix.
- Fold in Dry Ingredients: Gently stir in the graham cracker crumbs and crushed Butterfinger bars until evenly distributed through the dough.
- Form Balls: Line a large cookie sheet with parchment paper. Scoop out 1 to 1 ½ tablespoons of dough per ball, then roll each portion into a smooth ball. Place the formed balls on the prepared cookie sheet.
- Chill Balls: Place the cookie sheet in the freezer and chill the balls for about 30 minutes until firm.
- Melt Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate bark or chips at 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until mostly melted. Remove when some chunks remain, then stir until smooth and fully melted. Be careful not to overheat.
- Dip and Coat: Dip each chilled ball into the melted chocolate, covering fully or partially according to preference. Place back on the parchment-lined sheet.
- Garnish: Immediately sprinkle over additional crushed Butterfingers, holiday sprinkles, or flaky sea salt on the chocolate-coated balls for added texture and decoration.
- Set Chocolate: Allow the chocolate coating to set completely at room temperature or briefly in the refrigerator before serving and enjoying.
Notes
- Use creamy peanut butter for the best texture; natural types may be too oily or grainy.
- Softened butter should be at room temperature to blend smoothly with peanut butter.
- Chilling the balls before dipping ensures they hold their shape and prevent melting chocolate too quickly.
- Chocolate bark can be easier to melt evenly, but chocolate chips work just as well.
- These treats should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain freshness and prevent melting.
- For a different texture, substitute crushed Oreos or pretzels for the Butterfinger bars.
